Well as luck would have it I happened upon a 1940 yearbook for Oaklandon High School. This book contains a complete list of alumni for the school covering the years 1911 to 1939.
The listing for 1914 displayed the following:
1914 Freeman Apple Tena Evans Minnie Lefforge Thomas McCord Emilia Sellers Virgil Stoner Claud Watson John Weaver Mervin Smith Wilber Dalzell Reva Shepherd Ruth Fultz Mary Records
I would therefor conclude that you would be safe in listing the “tied for 3rd finisher in the hurdles at the state meet held on May 16, 1914” as “Weaver, John – 12th grade”
Thanks again for reaching out!
I now look forward to publishing this newly discovered year book in an upcomming post.
