Mark 10:18 And Jesus said to him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

I was watching a show tonight discussing the book, " Jesus Among Other Gods."  It is by Ravi Zacharias. He made a statement that I found interesting. He stated, "Jesus did not come to make bad people good, but to make dead people live.

Why would God The Father want to leave any of His creation behind when all is said and done, at the consummation, at the end of time. If any of His creation was not brought into the "fold" would God's plan of a perfect creation be a failure? How could God be a failure?

Tuesday (formerly Monday) Evening Bible Study / C.S. Lewis on Free Will
Last post by Michael:D - September 20, 2017, 09:38:40 AM
"God created things which had free will. That means creatures which can go wrong or right. Some people think they can imagine a creature which was free but had no possibility of going wrong, but I can't. If a thing is free to be good it's also free to be bad. And free will is what has made evil possible. Why, then, did God give them free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automata -of creatures that worked like machines- would hardly be worth creating. The happiness which God designs for His higher creatures is the happiness of being freely, voluntarily united to Him and to each other in an ecstasy of love and delight compared with which the most rapturous love between a man and a woman on this earth is mere milk and water. And for that they've got to be free.
Of course God knew what would happen if they used their freedom the wrong way: apparently, He thought it worth the risk. (...) If God thinks this state of war in the universe a price worth paying for free will -that is, for making a real world in which creatures can do real good or harm and something of real importance can happen, instead of a toy world which only moves when He pulls the strings- then we may take it it is worth paying."

LXX2012: Septuagint in English 2012

This is a translation of the Old Testament and Apocrypha/Deuterocanon from Hebrew to Greek to 19th Century British English, with some updates of spelling and word usage to contemporary American English. The original English translation was done by Sir Lancelot Charles Lee Brenton and published by Samuel Bagster & Sons, Ltd., in London in 1851. It has entered the Public Domain due to the passage of sufficient time. In the process of scanning and typing the text, the original poetry and prose formatting, as well as peripheral material like introductions and notes, have been omitted.

This edition of the Septuagint has some language updates. Brenton's word order and punctuation has been mostly retained, meaning that quotation marks are not used, and sentences within quotes may not start with capital letters, as was standard usage in 1851. Names transliterated from Greek to those transliterated from Hebrew in the common English Bibles often differ. These language updates are dedicated to the Public Domain by the author of those edits, Michael Paul Johnson. Therefore this edition may be freely copied, published, etc.

Before considering making changes to the text of this work, I recommend that you consult with God, because this is really His Book.

If you find errors in the text, please report them so that we can correct them.

Donations to help with the expenses of operating this web site and thus help others have free access to the Word of God may be made to us, but are not required. Please see http://MLJohnson.org/partner/ for more about that.

Hi Greg,

After seeing "Rocket hitting the flat earth dome" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAcp3BFBYw4 I was compelled to search out the source (stolen) footage...

This one seems to show a complete version of the "Rocket Hits The Dome" video that goes on to show the jettison of the nose capsule from the booster rocket with continued upward momentum:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=001IXnp0ogc&feature=youtu.be&t=56

This website discusses the likelihood that a "yo-yo de-spin device" has been deployed prior to stage separation to stabilize the capsule for the rest of its voyage - presumably into space.

https://space.stackexchange.com/questions/17089/how-did-the-gofast-2014-rocket-de-spin

Some of the comments for those videos are hilarious...

People often lie to support their mistaken beliefs - In many ways I fear that the whole flat-earth phenomenon is orchestrated to mock people's belief in God - to "take it on faith." Luckily we know truth only because God has given it to us.

This idea of a rocket hitting a dome is literally rocket science and is over most peoples heads ;)

Thanks for the diversion :D

In this thrilling episode GregD, MikeD, DaveT and Uncle Jack briefly entertain the notion of a Flat Earth and consider its potential for a future, in-depth, discussion topic. In the midst of that "tall grass" the conversation turns toward a consideration of 1Corinthians 4:6 (in part: "...not to think of men above that which is written...") and question whether he was referring to the Septuagint (see topic: A Bible for Jesus and Paul) and if so, how does this admonition square with the acceptance of a "New" Testament.

So many questions...

Several weeks ago I made note of a topic of study I intended to investigate...
I came across that note today and found myself reading the following verse:

1Corinthians 4:6  And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

and wondering, "If Paul was referring the Corinthians to 'that which is written,' what writings was he talking about?" Of course we take it - by implication - he was referring to scripture...

Many experts agree that the Bible most in use in those days was the Septuagint (or Greek Old Testament.)

I decided to see if I could find an English translation of the Septuagint for eSword but was not able to do so.  :(  I did however, find a 2012 English Translation that is in the public domain and already in html (webpage) format. ;D

It has been uploaded onto The Vestibule server so we can check it out right here at home.
