I mentioned to Wayne the possibility of upgrading our yard sign with a digital message board option.
I threw out a number of around $700 per side and he shared this idea with Mike who asked that Technology Department look into it further.
Early investigation has led (no pun) me to OliveLED.com (http://www.oliveled.com/inc/slim-series) slim series.
I am attaching an image showing a mock-up showing approximately what a 19" X 69" installation might look like. The service time are shown as white on black and could in theory be backlit.
