Hi there!
My name is Ewald Bal. I'm the CSO at BrightSight-People, an indie software company from The Netherlands.

I've always loved text adventures or Interactive Fiction nowadays. And I am proud to bring you a brand-new and totally free game called “Beached!” An oldschool text adventure with modern-day touches.

In Beached! you play a stranded, cocky castaway roaming a deserted island in the Caribbean Sea. Help this poor guy survive the island, using nothing but it’s natural resources, which is easier said than done, of course.

Beached! Is a small game, as it is the first in a series to come. Survival is your main goal in this first part, escaping the island will happen in later episodes. I hope you’ll enjoy Beached! For its atmosphere and crazy sense of humor if you force the protagonist into wacky situations.

I have just completed a purge of all games in the "DEAD" and "TESTING" categories. This has resulted in a loss of approximately 110 games. Several of these games had registered scores in the arcade but were (for whatever reason) not taking new scores. As a result of this purge the tally of games won for the "Hall of Fame Champions" has changed.

This has not changed the rankings order, but has reduced the number of games won for the affected members.
The top 4 champions have changes as follows:

masodo from 313 to 308
mike from 237 to 234
dara from  186 to 185
panda from 185 to 182

No other members holding Hall of Fame scores have been affected by this operation.
I have saved all the games prior to their removal so perhaps some day they might be functional once again - but dont hold your breath wink

The attached images show snapshots of the Leader Board pre and post purge.

Sorry, but I am going to mark "Silly Ways to Die" as "DEAD"
It seems this version is forcing an embed of a remote script and therefore is not utilizing our submit codes.

Too bad, I really like the game sad I will be on the lookout for a replacement.

I redid the scoring and re-released this game:

Score now auto submits in the background - still testing but seems to be working... let me know if you find otherwise.

Sometimes (often) the fonts do not properly load for this game - reloading the game once before playing seems to fix the problem.

I thought I had solved this issue by hosting the fonts along with the game but that does not always seem to work. I am thinking about making the game use default browser fonts but for now the game plays great once refreshed so I hesitate to (flying) monkey with it. wink

Normally our games are only available for download to those members with "Affiliate" status however, we have decided to make our DOS Games available for all members to download.
The following announcement has been added to the arcade greeting message as "Big News":
